Apple Reintroduces Blood Oxygen Feature Amid Stock Decline

Apple Inc. has revived its blood oxygen monitoring capability for select Apple Watch models through a software update that processes data via paired iPhones. The move follows a U.S. Customs ruling permitting imports of redesigned devices after the ITC's 2023 patent infringement decision against Apple.

The feature now requires iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1, displaying results in the Health app rather than on the watch face. This technical workaround maintains functionality while complying with the Masimo patent dispute resolution.

Despite this product development, Apple shares continue to underperform the broader market. The stock's 6.78% year-to-date decline contrasts sharply with the S&P 500's 9.89% gain through mid-August 2025.
